Our Story

Making hospitals less lonely, one letter at a time.

The End Pals Mission

Founded in Philadelphia, End Pals was born from a simple belief: no one should have to navigate a hospital stay feeling isolated from the outside world. Whether you are recovering from surgery or undergoing long-term treatments, the hospital environment can be incredibly disconnected. We bridge that gap by connecting patients with volunteers who share their hobbies, passions, and everyday stories.

Meet the Founder

Chad Witlock is the founder and director of End Pals, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering meaningful connection and comfort at the end of life. Recognizing the profound isolation that can often accompany terminal illness, Chad created a platform to bridge the gap, pairing compassionate pen pals with individuals receiving hospice care. Through the simple, powerful act of sharing stories and exchanging letters, he and his team are committed to ensuring that no one has to navigate their final chapter alone—bringing dignity, warmth, and enduring friendship to those who need it most.
